I can insert any media and it doesn't care... That's the way home theater should be! At this point I couldn't care less if either format wins since I'll be able to handle both.I'd rather both formats stick around then condemn some group of supporters to own a dead format. .

Fumo defends Pa. student-loan agency's spending practices
HARRISBURG, Pa. - A state senator on the board of Pennsylvania's student loan agency criticized an ongoing state audit of the agency's spending practices Thursday, alleging that it was politically motivated. Sen. Vincent J. Fumo, D-Philadelphia, said the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency's spending on business travel, entertainment and promotions have helped boost its revenues. State Auditor General Jack Wagner announced in April that his office would audit PHEAA, citing news reports of lavish spending. The audit is expected to be completed by the end of June. "The going out ... and entertaining and marketing brought this agency a ton of money," Fumo said during the board's monthly meeting. "I think the auditor general should be ashamed for trying to run a political campaign on the backs of the students of this commonwealth." Wagner is seeking re-election this year and is considered a potential candidate for governor in 2010.
Renters Beware, Foreclosures May Affect You Too
Tamara may have seen it coming if she owned a condo, but she rents. It was shocking for her. What happened to her is happening across South Florida. Despite rents paid on time, landlords can't afford the mortgage, often double what they are renting for. Tamara had 60 days to move out while they foreclosed. She held back rent, in essence getting her deposit back. "It sort of felt even, but you go through the headache and being told to move right then," she said. "It was like a panic and frustrating." The building Tamara moved in by all accounts looked like any other downtown high rise, but The Club at Brickell Bay has a secret many people don't know--dozens of units are in foreclosure. Some even call it ground zero for South Florida mortgage fraud. "I see what's happening in this building could very well happen in some other buildings," said realtor Evan Goldman.
School results - Daugherty wins UPDATED
When we called the race earlier, the only official results available for the runoff were for early and absentee voting, which Daugherty carried 113-107. But workers for both candidates -- gathering votes by checking posted totals at individual precincts -- were coming up with similar tallies giving Daugherty the victory. This turnout was an increase of more than 50 percent over the first election, which Daugherty led 808-806. Two other candidates picked up 193 more votes in the first election. (The Pulaski County Election Commission had problems with its Internet provider, which hampered reporting of vote totals Tuesday night.) I drove around to a few polls myself to gather some early votes. I checked the biggest individual poll for Daugherty and Swaim in the first election and a large box with a split vote.
Bill helps boost draft registration
Well, with luck, this legislator will soon get defeated and then can volunteer, if he wants, to join up and salute his superiors with more stripes than he has. But this will probably not happen -- those politicians that are most warlike generally, and not specifically, are those that avoided it at all costs when they could have gone.Posted: Sat Jan 12, 2008 1:08 pm .

First up, the Big Blue fears. Bank of America analyst Scott Craig cut his earnings estimates for hardware related stocks. Why? Craig reckons that CIOs and technology buyers are getting conservative at large enterprises amid a weaker economy (in other words the CFO is breathing down their necks). Craig also notes that a slowdown in earnings typically precedes a spending slowdown. He also adds that the global economy isn't likely to bail out U.S. based companies. That final point is huge for a company like IBM, which is really an international company that will benefit from a weak dollar and spending abroad. In a nutshell, you can expect server spending to weaken a bit. Craig cut his fiscal 2008 revenue target to $102.1 billion from $102.3 billion. Earnings estimates were cut to $7.86 a share from $7.91 a share.
