ELECTION 2008 REPUBLICANS: Final shots in N.H. battles
MANCHESTER, N.H. - Mitt Romney came out firing in the last GOP forum before a likely make-or-break primary for him here tomorrow, taking shots at rivals who ganged up on him in the debate the night before.
But while the other four leading contenders for the Republican nomination at the forum traded jabs with him and each other last night, they spent more time making their closing arguments, reverting to talking points to try to win this state's undecided voters.
Fox News Forum moderator Chris Wallace confronted each candidate with their weaknesses, forcing Rudy Giuliani to again apologize for not effectively vetting former police commissioner Bernard Kerik, now indicted for corruption.

But Edwards saved his biggest bomb for the mini presser afterward, where he responded to Giuliani's jibe that he and Obama and Hillary, "do not understand a capitalistic economy." "What Giuliani is, is George Bush on steroids." Edwards said. "Giuliani, Romney and the rest of the Republicans running for the nomination are going to give the country four more years of crony capitalism, which is exactly what we have now. We have insurance companies and drug companies and oil companies running this government.
