Which of the Republican candidates for the presidency is most likely to get "Soutered?" To nominate for the Supreme Court, not an originalist, but in fact the opposite. Those vulnerable to being Soutered lack an ear for or an interest in the inner ideology that all lower court judges keep carefully tucked away until they arrive on the Supreme Court of the United States where it is allowed to take full flight. It is hard work to get SCOTUS nominees right. Even when a president cares about the Court and the Constitution's interpretation by the nine deeply, he can still be flummoxed by the process. If he isn't passionate about it going in, it won't spring up in the course of his busy life in the Oval Office.

The first President Bush narrowed a field of Supreme Court candidates to Judge Edith Jones and then New Hampshire Supreme Court Justice David Souter.

Bankrate: Mortgage Rates Lowest Since March 2004

NEW YORK, Jan. 24 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Mortgage rates dropped for the fourth week in a row, with the average conforming 30-year fixed mortgage rate now 5.57 percent. According to Bankrate.com's weekly national survey of large lenders, the average 30-year fixed mortgage has an average of 0.33 discount and origination points.

The average 15-year fixed rate mortgage popular for refinancing fell to 5.11 percent, and the average jumbo 30-year fixed rate eased to 6.85 percent. Adjustable mortgage rates plummeted, with the average one-year ARM plunging to 5.41 percent, and the average 5/1 ARM sinking to 5.35 percent.

Adjustable mortgage rates plunged following an emergency interest rate cut by the Federal Reserve. The repeated rate cuts by the Fed will benefit the many homeowners with adjustable mortgage resets still to come in 2008.

CORNER CUBE FRIDAY: TNA Impact review - a money match is taking shape

Jericho via DQ. Updated Wednesday, January 23 10:25 a.m. Last night's ECW had all the glitz and glamour of a big-feel show, but it ended on a downer note with the heels conspiring for an ECW Title change and a lackluster debut from Kofi Kingston. Colin D. remains great in the Big Three of mid-card excellence - Santino (Raw) and Jamie Noble (SD) being in his peer group. The Rumble video package was a nice touch to give ECW something tangible - anything! - to call their own in selling the PPV. But, without the usual filler ECW Title match for the PPV, it came down to booking a five-man battle royale that was too short to give viewers a real taste for the PPV. The production value to last night's show was a major upgrade over the previous ECW set. The previous set was designed to give ECW an "alternative" feel, but over time, "alternative" become second-rate and drab.
